Two teenagers who perpetrated a shooting at a San Diego mosque left behind signs of hate speech before the attack, according to law enforcement officials. The violent incident at the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont Mesa resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including a brave security guard. Investigations revealed that the perpetrators had etched hate speech on one of the weapons used during the assault.

In a distressing development, a note containing generalized hate rhetoric and hate speech was discovered by one of the suspect’s mothers, prompting further scrutiny by authorities. The scene of the shooting witnessed a significant police presence with dozens of officers swiftly responding to the incident.

The deceased victims included Amin Abdulla, a dedicated security guard at the San Diego Islamic Center. The school within the center and neighboring educational institutions were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure during the violent episode.

In the aftermath of the tragic events, Superintendent Fabi Bagula of the San Diego Unified School District assured the availability of counselors for affected students and families. She emphasized the importance of supporting children in processing distressing information amidst media coverage of the incident.

The suspects, identified as Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, were found deceased from self-inflicted gunshot wounds following the attack. Authorities confirmed the presence of hate speech writings in the suspects’ possession, indicating a motive linked to intolerance and bigotry.

Imam Taha Hassane of the Islamic Center urged for a message of love and tolerance to prevail, emphasizing the need for a united effort against religious intolerance and hatred. The tragic incident prompted reflections on the importance of safeguarding places of worship and fostering a culture of peace and unity within communities.

The Islamic Center of San Diego announced its closure until further notice, mourning the loss and emphasizing the need to uphold principles of peace and respect in society. The community expressed solidarity in condemning the violence and offering support to those affected by the distressing events.
