Helen Flanagan recently revealed that she had conversations about her sexual orientation while filming Celebs Go Dating. However, these discussions were omitted from the final footage to protect her mother’s emotions.
The 35-year-old actress participated in Celebs Go Dating in 2024, and it later emerged that she was in a relationship with her now former partner Robbie Talbot during the filming period.
In her newly published autobiography “Head & Heart” by Mirror Books, the former Coronation Street star shared her struggles with the confusion surrounding her sexuality during the show. Helen expressed her apprehension about her mother’s potential disappointment if the content aired, leading to her feeling depressed about the prospect of it being broadcast. Fortunately, after discussions with the production team of Celebs Go Dating, the segments concerning her sexuality were edited out as per her request.
Helen expressed gratitude for the understanding shown by the show’s producers in handling the situation delicately. They worked together to remove the scenes where she opened up about her sexuality. The Mirror has reached out to Celebs Go Dating for their response on the matter.
While Helen has not explicitly defined her sexual orientation, she was previously engaged to footballer Scott Sinclair for 13 years before their split in 2022, after having three children together. Additionally, she briefly dated boxer David Haye, 45, who practices polyamory, but she dismissed any speculation about involvement in a “throuple.”
In her autobiography, Helen also detailed a falling-out with her former Coronation Street colleague Ryan Thomas, disclosing a heated exchange on the ITV set that led to her departure from the soap. She described Ryan’s behavior as “unprofessional” and claimed he struggled with his lines, indicating that she faced challenges with other cast members on the show as well.
Despite their past differences, Helen mentioned that her feud with Ryan has diminished over time, and they have since connected at various showbiz events. The two actors portrayed characters who dated from 2011 to 2012 on the show, with Helen ultimately leaving to pursue a modeling career in London.
In another revelation from her book, Helen shared that she and co-star Brooke Vincent had dated the same Manchester City footballer during their time on the soap. She recalled a brief fling with player Reece Wabara before he started dating Brooke, highlighting a humorous incident from their time together.
Moreover, Helen accused Antony Cotton of making insensitive jokes about her anxiety medication usage, causing her distress. The publication of Helen’s book, “Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns, and Being Rosie,” is now available.
