Authorities have verified that a helicopter crash in the waters of Qatar has resulted in the loss of six lives.

The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that six out of the seven individuals aboard the helicopter have been discovered deceased, while efforts are ongoing to locate the seventh missing person as part of a search and rescue operation.

The helicopter went down at sea due to a technical issue while engaged in a routine mission, as per an earlier statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Defence issued in the early hours of Sunday.

In a recent announcement, the Ministry conveyed that specialist teams are persisting in their comprehensive search across Qatar’s territorial waters.

The Ministry declared in a communication on X: “The Ministry of Interior reports that in the ongoing search and rescue efforts for the individuals involved in the helicopter crash in the state’s territorial waters, six out of seven occupants have been located.

“The fatalities of those recovered have been confirmed, while specialized teams are continuing their intensive operations to locate the remaining missing individual.”

The statement concludes by expressing: “The Ministry of Interior extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for divine mercy upon them, their acceptance into paradise, and providing their families and loved ones with strength and comfort.”
