A renowned UK fish and chip shop company with a 160-year history has been rescued from financial troubles through a successful acquisition deal. Henry Nuttall, established in 1865 as the original frying range manufacturer in the world, faced administration due to challenges following the owner’s passing.

The company’s fate has been secured by HN Ranges, a subsidiary of RGM Leeds group, which also owns Hopkins, a prominent British range manufacturer. This acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, has safeguarded all 11 jobs and is expected to bring long-term investment to ensure the company’s sustainability.

Richard Oddy and Jonathan Mark Amor of Azets Holdings Limited acted as joint administrators during the process. Mr. Oddy highlighted the significance of Henry Nuttall as one of the primary UK frying range manufacturers, emphasizing the urgency to preserve the brand’s legacy dating back to 1865.

Originally operating from a modest shop in Rochdale, Henry Nuttall expanded post-war, with its manufacturing facility now located in Dinnington, Sheffield. The company’s integration into the RGM Leeds group alongside Hopkins signifies a positive step towards a secure future, maintaining the brand’s integrity and commitment to customers.
