Hezbollah Declares Intent to Use Suicide Bombers Against Israel

Published on

Hezbollah’s leader has declared the group’s readiness to employ “large numbers of suicide bombers” in the conflict against Israel. The unidentified commander informed Al Jazeera of their intention to utilize strategies reminiscent of the 1980s, including sending suicide attackers to impede the enemy’s presence.

According to a senior military official interviewed by Al Jazeera, extensive groups of suicide bombers have been positioned in the occupied territories, specifically in the region of southern Lebanon controlled by Israel. Their primary objective is to engage with Israeli military personnel in the occupied Lebanese villages.

Simultaneously, the Israeli army has initiated strikes on alleged Hezbollah infrastructure in the Bekaa Valley and throughout southern Lebanon. Recent attacks targeted the towns of Tibnin and Yater in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah, known for its history of employing suicide attacks, has conducted notable operations such as the Tyre truck bombings against the IDF and the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing targeting American and French peacekeepers, influencing other extremist groups to adopt similar tactics.

The recent violence led to casualties, with Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reporting 14 fatalities, including two children and two women, along with 37 individuals injured. The Israel Defense Forces claimed to have launched artillery and aerial strikes against alleged Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon.

Despite a ceasefire supposedly in place between the two countries, recently extended for another three weeks by Donald Trump, tensions remain high in the region.
