Actress Patsy King, renowned for her portrayal of Governor Erica Davidson in Prisoner Cell Block H, has passed away at the age of 95. The news of her death, after a brief illness, was confirmed on Monday, January 19.

Patsy’s career included significant roles in radio and theater in addition to her iconic TV presence. She debuted professionally on stage in 1951, showcasing her talent across various genres such as portraying Wendy in Peter Pan and earning the 1963 Erik Award for Best Actress for her role as Agnes in The Fourposter.

With a notable TV career, Patsy appeared in multiple episodes of Prisoner: Cell Block H and featured in leading and guest roles on ABC TV shows like Homicide, Division 4, Matlock Police, and The Box. She was also a prominent figure on Play School in Australia and had credits in productions like Power Without Glory, The Sullivans, and The Rivals.

In 1989, Patsy transitioned her role as Erica from screen to stage, captivating audiences in the successful West End production of Prisoner Cell Block H. Tributes poured in on social media, commemorating her impactful performance as Erica Davidson and her lasting influence on Australian television.

Patsy, a respected figure both on and off the screen, was remembered for her contributions to shows like Bellbird and Division 4. She was married to Melbourne Theatre Company founder John Sumner for eight years and was actively involved in charitable work at St John’s Toorak and St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. She is survived by her sister Valerie Logada.
