An infamous murderer abducted and killed an eight-year-old child, then dismembered the body and stored the victim’s feet in his freezer. Levi Aron, the twisted perpetrator, passed away in prison last month, marking the 15th anniversary of his heinous act.
The tragic incident unfolded when the young boy, Leiby Kletzky, ventured home unaccompanied for the first time. Lost and seeking directions, he encountered Aron, leading to a series of horrific events.
Following Leiby’s disappearance while returning from a religious camp in Borough Park, Brooklyn, volunteers mobilized to search for him. Aron, deceitful in his actions, diverted the child to a wedding before realizing the extent of the search efforts.
Amid the chaos, Aron confessed to drugging and suffocating Leiby out of panic, subsequently dismembering the body and discarding it. Shockingly, he preserved the boy’s severed feet in his freezer near the victim’s residence.
Authorities eventually apprehended Aron after discovering incriminating evidence in his apartment, including bloodstains and the victim’s remains. Aron then disclosed the location of the boy’s body parts, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction for kidnapping and murder.
Sentenced to 40 years to life imprisonment, Aron recently passed away at 49 following a prolonged incarceration. Despite his demise, his family, who faced threats post the gruesome crime, requested an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
The victim’s father, Nachman Kletzky, condemned the ruthless act against his son as “utterly reckless, malicious, and wanton,” refraining from commenting on Aron’s demise.
