A woman from the UK has passed away on a luxury yacht in a popular vacation spot as authorities conduct an investigation. The incident occurred at the Majorcan port of Palma, where the £27 million yacht was docked, following a report of a woman’s body discovered on board on Sunday evening. Despite efforts by paramedics, the woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Today, an autopsy is scheduled to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, while Civil Guard investigators are working to uncover what transpired. There were no apparent signs of violence near the 42-year-old woman’s body, but authorities await the post-mortem results to ascertain the cause of death, with her identity not yet disclosed publicly.
The deceased woman was part of the crew, assisting with maintenance on the vessel known as Lind, a custom-built motor yacht that commands a high charter cost of nearly £300,000 per week during peak season. The 170ft yacht, registered in the Cayman Islands, boasts a top speed of over 15 knots and can accommodate up to ten guests and 13 crew members. Its luxurious amenities include an open-air cinema, jacuzzi, gym, and inflatable trampolines.
The current owner of the superyacht is reportedly German billionaire Peter Alexander Wacker, holding a significant stake in the chemical company Wacker Chemie AG, established by his great-grandfather in 1914. Wacker, whose net worth was estimated at $1 billion by Forbes as of April 2024, transitioned to Wacker Chemie after a decade at BMW.
The woman’s colleagues raised the alarm after she failed to respond to messages or calls, prompting the discovery of her tragic fate on the yacht.
