“Iran Strikes Israel: Dozens Injured in Missile Attacks”

Published on

Dozens of individuals sustained injuries in Israel following Iranian missile strikes aimed at two locations near the nation’s primary nuclear research facility. The Israeli military confirmed its defenses were ineffective in intercepting the missiles that struck Dimona and Arad in the southern region, with multiple casualties reported in critical condition.

The attacks are believed to be retaliatory actions after the Natanz nuclear enrichment site in Iran was targeted earlier in the conflict. Limited information from Iran has hindered assessments of the damage inflicted on its military, nuclear, or energy installations by the US and Israeli strikes initiated on February 28.

Iran’s state news agency, Mizan, stated there was no radiation leakage post the Natanz nuclear plant attack, situated approximately 135 miles southeast of Tehran. The International Atomic Energy Agency indicated that the majority of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, estimated at 970 pounds, is safeguarded at its Isfahan facility, with a smaller amount located at Natanz. The Israeli military disclaimed any involvement in a strike on the Natanz facility.

Prior to the US receiving authorization to target missile sites threatening the Strait of Hormuz, Iran launched missiles towards Diego Garcia in the Chagos Islands. However, the precise timing of the firing of the two intermediate-range ballistic missiles remains unclear.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) refrained from disclosing the launch time of the attack. A US naval vessel reportedly intercepted one missile, while the other malfunctioned mid-flight, as per the Wall Street Journal.

The MoD strongly condemned Iran’s assault on Diego Garcia, emphasizing the threats posed by Iran’s aggressive actions in the region, particularly concerning British interests and allies. The UK government granted the US permission to utilize British bases for specific and limited defensive operations.
