Iran’s Ex-Supreme Leader Doubts Son’s Leadership Abilities

Published on

Iran’s ex-Supreme Leader reportedly expressed concerns about his son succeeding him, revealed US intelligence sources. US officials informed Donald Trump and his administration of evidence suggesting Ayatollah Ali Khamenei doubted his son, Mojtaba Khamenei’s capabilities to lead.

Sources disclosed to CBS that Mojtaba was perceived as lacking intelligence and deemed unqualified by his father. Following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a missile strike triggering the current Middle East conflict, Iranian state TV declared Mojtaba as his successor.

Despite being a long-time contender, Mojtaba had never held any official government position. With the Revolutionary Guard under his command, he now holds significant influence over war strategies.

Speculations arose about Mojtaba’s well-being as he remained absent from public view since the conflict began. There are concerns that his hard-line views may pose challenges for American interests, coupled with doubts about his leadership abilities.

In his first statement on the war, Mojtaba did not appear on camera and his speech was read by a news anchor, fueling rumors of his possible injury or demise during the initial missile attack that killed his father.

US President Trump expressed uncertainty about Mojtaba’s status and urged him to act wisely for his country. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggested that Mojtaba might be wounded and concealed due to fear and lack of legitimacy.

An Israeli assessment hinted that Mojtaba sustained injuries in the war’s onset and could be in a secure, undisclosed location to evade potential threats. However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that the Supreme Leader is in good health and effectively managing the situation.

Additionally, US intelligence revealed Mojtaba’s past treatment for “impotency” in private UK hospitals, as documented in a classified briefing. Mojtaba underwent treatment multiple times in London for the issue, which reportedly affected his ability to conceive.
