Jamie Oliver’s oldest daughter, Poppy Honey, 24, has accepted a marriage proposal from her partner, Ben Newman. The announcement was made by the celebrity chef’s wife, Jools, who shared a photo of Newman proposing on a beach, bringing joy to the entire family.
Expressing her excitement, Jools wrote, “Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married. We are so thrilled, proud, and happy. Ben, we all adore you.” She revealed that Poppy and Ben first crossed paths when they were neighbors at university.
Jools reminisced about the moment when they moved Poppy into her second university house, with Ben living next door. She humorously mentioned being preoccupied with assembling a shoe rack while Ben seemed more interested in his new neighbor. Five years later, they found love, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
Sharing a series of photos, including one of Poppy flaunting her engagement ring, Jools captured the family’s joyous celebration in a video from their kitchen, filled with balloons. Jamie’s mother also joined in with heartfelt comments, expressing her happiness for the couple.
Apart from Poppy, Jamie and Jools are proud parents to Daisy, 23, Petal, 17, Buddy, 15, and River, 10. Jamie attributed the success of their marriage to their differences, emphasizing how their unique traits have complemented each other over their 25 years together.
The couple first met as teenagers at Westminster Technical College, with Jamie mustering the courage to ask Jools out after a year of admiration. Their initial date had a memorable mishap when Jamie accidentally crashed his car, leading to Jools’ compassionate response.
In 2020, Jamie and Jools reaffirmed their love by renewing their vows, celebrating two decades of togetherness.
