A massive fire that destroyed 300 homes was allegedly ignited by a man consumed by jealousy upon finding his wife in a compromising situation with another man.
The blaze engulfed numerous residences in the Intramuros district of Manila, Philippines, causing extensive damage amounting to £20,000 and leaving many people without homes. The perpetrator, known as Burnok, had recently been released from prison and had returned to live with his wife in Barangay 655.
On the fateful day, Burnok encountered his wife with another man, suspected to be her lover. Enraged by this discovery, Burnok hastily left the scene but later returned with a container of gasoline, which he used to set their dwelling on fire. The fire rapidly spread from the fourth-floor apartment to adjacent buildings, leading to widespread destruction.
As emergency crews grappled with the inferno, thick black smoke billowed over the city, prompting residents to flee the area. Firefighters faced challenges due to water supply limitations, storage issues, and narrow access roads, hindering their efforts to contain the fire’s spread.
The suspect was apprehended by police after being attacked by angry residents. The incident, which unfolded over several hours, resulted in significant property damage and left a community in disarray.
