“Jessie Buckley Poised to Make Oscar History”

Jessie Buckley, a nominee for the prestigious Oscar award, narrowly missed the chance to play Nancy in the stage adaptation of Oliver in 2008. However, overcoming her past disappointments, she is now poised to create history by becoming the first Irish actress to clinch the coveted Best Actress award.

Aged 36, the acclaimed star has already secured accolades such as a Bafta, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award for her remarkable portrayal of Agnes, also known as Anne, the wife of renowned playwright William Shakespeare.

Her latest movie, “Hamnet,” based on Maggie O Farrell’s work, depicts the challenges faced by the couple after the tragic loss of their son. Jessie has revealed that her involvement in the acclaimed film resonated deeply with her personal longing to start a family.

In a recent British Vogue interview, she shared that portraying a character grappling with the grief of losing a child fulfilled a profound emotional need within her. Jessie tied the knot in 2023 and welcomed her first child last year.

Earlier this year, the award-winning actress sparked controversy by expressing her dislike for cats during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show, dispelling the misconception that she harbored any animosity towards the animals.

Having spent five years studying at an all-girls convent school, Jessie ventured into the limelight by auditioning for the BBC talent show “I’d Do Anything” at the age of 17.

Although she reached the final stage, she narrowly missed out on winning to Coronation Street star Jodie Pregner. Determined to make her mark in the acting world, Jessie dedicated years to honing her craft, studying drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and graduating with a BA in 2013.

Her career took off when she debuted at Shakespeare’s Globe in “The Tempest” in the same year, later starring alongside Jude Law in “Henry V.”

Transitioning to television, she appeared in “War and Peace” in 2016, embodying the character Marya Bolkonskaya, and made her film debut the following year in the psychological thriller “Beast” alongside Johnny Flynn.

Subsequently, she starred in various films, including “Wild Rose” in 2018, where she portrayed a struggling single mother of two with a criminal past aspiring to become a country singer, earning her a Bafta for Best Actress.
