Katie Price has disclosed that her spouse Lee Andrews has been apprehended in Dubai on suspicion of espionage. The mother of five shared this development after receiving a call from her husband from a phone booth in Al Awir prison to clarify his whereabouts.
Lee, who had been missing for a fortnight, was finally reached by the 48-year-old former model. She disclosed that he was being held in a notorious Dubai prison and had undergone interrogation by authorities. Following their brief conversation, Katie expressed relief, stating, “I have located him – he is safe and sound. I informed him of my concerns and expressed my love for him. The authorities there suspect him of being a spy, but I lack further details at this time.”
In a subsequent podcast episode, Katie elaborated on her phone call with Lee, telling her sister Sophie, “All I know is that they believed he was a spy, akin to James Bond.” Adding humorously, she remarked, “He could very well be James Bond.”
Espionage, synonymous with spying, involves clandestinely gathering confidential information concerning politics, military affairs, or industries of a nation or organization through spies, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary. In the United Arab Emirates, espionage is considered a capital offense with penalties ranging from imprisonment to life sentence or even the death penalty, depending on the gravity of the threat posed to state security.
Katie mentioned that Lee might secure his release by paying a substantial fine by Monday. Meanwhile, Lee’s former partner, Alana Percival, dismissed his spy narrative, citing similar stories he had concocted in the past. She found his latest claim amusing.
The millionaire, intending to visit the UK to reunite with Katie and appear on Good Morning Britain, went missing shortly after reportedly missing his flight. Initially suspected to have been kidnapped, Lee communicated to Katie that he was confined in a van with bound hands but not handcuffed.
Despite the frantic search, Katie managed to speak to Lee on May 27, learning that he had indeed been detained despite her initial denials. She explained the apparent phone activity during Lee’s absence, attributing it to interrogators accessing his phone.
