Labour Party leader Keir Starmer has criticized Nigel Farage for not denouncing a Reform council official who shared a post suggesting a Labour MP should be shot. The post in question, shared by Lancashire deputy council leader Simon Evans on Facebook, falsely attributed a quote to MP Natalie Fleet regarding her stance on a grooming gang inquiry. Fleet, who represents Bolsover, has previously spoken about being a victim of grooming and rape during her teenage years.

Evans also included text with the post stating, “You dozy cow, you should be shot,” which he later apologized for and removed. During Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs), Prime Minister called out Farage for failing to take action against Evans for sharing the death threat aimed at Fleet. Johnson urged Farage to apologize, condemn the remarks, and remove the responsible individual from his party.

Despite the call-out, Farage did not address the comments and instead posed a question on the Chagos Islands. Johnson criticized Farage for not condemning the death threat against Fleet and accused his party, Reform UK, of promoting grievance and division. Johnson also pointed out controversial statements made by Reform UK’s candidate in Gorton and Denton, Matthew Goodwin, indicating racial exclusion from English identity.

Following the incident, Evans deleted the post and issued an apology on Facebook, acknowledging his mistake in sharing the post without recognizing its harmful content. A Reform spokesperson considered the incident an error and decided not to take any action against Evans, accepting his apology and explanation of events.
