Andros Georgiou, a childhood friend of the late singer George Michael, is embroiled in a legal battle with George’s estate over an unreleased album titled Trojan Souls. Andros, aged 63, expressed his disappointment with the estate’s decision to sue him in London’s Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court. He emphasized his dedication to fighting for George’s legacy and criticized the estate’s use of resources for the legal action.

The album, which George Michael worked on extensively until his partner’s passing in 1993, featured collaborations with renowned artists like Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Bryan Ferry. Andros filmed 90 minutes of exclusive footage showing George in the studio, playing the piano, recording vocals, and discussing the tracklist with producers.

Andros, who shares a close bond with George as second cousins, highlighted his possession of the original tapes and camera used for the recordings, claiming ownership of the footage. Despite attempting mediation with the estate’s lawyers, Andros alleged that his efforts were rebuffed, accusing the estate of trying to erase his role in George’s history.

The dispute has garnered increased interest in Andros’s website following reports of the legal action. He affirmed his determination not to retreat, stating his willingness to defend his rights if necessary. The estranged friends reconnected before George Michael’s passing in 2016, with Andros now preparing a revised edition of his memoir and a film based on his life and friendship with the iconic singer.
