Two individuals have been sentenced to life in prison following the fatal shooting of a mother-of-two at a memorial service. Perry Allen-Thomas was given a minimum term of 38 years, while Amir Salem received a 26-year sentence at the Old Bailey for the murder of 44-year-old Michelle Sadio outside a church in Willesden, north London, on December 14, 2024.

The accused, Allen-Thomas and Salem, were found guilty of murder and two counts of attempted murder after a trial at the Old Bailey. During sentencing, Jean-Marie Sadio, the victim’s husband, described his late spouse, who was his colleague at a legal firm, as a crucial figure in his life.

Mrs. Justice McGowan, presiding over the case, highlighted the tragic turn of events at what initially was a joyous family gathering. The judge emphasized that despite the presence of children at the event, the perpetrators showed no regard for who might be harmed.

Michelle Sadio was among around 100 mourners attending a wake when gunfire erupted, resulting in her death. Two other individuals were also injured in the shooting. The intended target was reported to be a rapper in attendance named Trapstar Toxic.

Allen-Thomas was accused of orchestrating the shooting, while Salem was involved in disposing of evidence after the incident. The court heard that Salem was in communication with the perpetrators on the night of the shooting.

In a poignant statement to the court, Mr. Sadio expressed forgiveness towards the defendants, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the future for the sake of his children. He urged the convicted individuals to seek redemption and make positive changes in their lives.

The widower acknowledged the irreparable loss his family had suffered but encouraged the defendants to reflect on their actions and strive to fulfill the potential their loved ones had envisioned for them.
