Organizers of a London festival issued an apology after multiple attendees were injured in a crush at the event. Distressing videos circulated on social media capturing guests screaming and struggling to escape a surge of people at the Ghana Party in the Park in Barnet, north London. Some individuals fell to the ground, while others shouted in panic amid the chaotic situation.

Three people were hospitalized, with several others sustaining minor injuries. The festival organizers expressed deep regret over the incident, describing the scenes as “deeply upsetting.” Witnesses reported seeing injured individuals being carried on stretchers by medical personnel. An 18-year-old attendee described the festival as “very chaotic” and criticized its poor organization.

In an official statement posted on the event’s Instagram page, the organizers extended their sympathies to those affected, wishing the injured a speedy recovery and offering support to their families and friends. The statement clarified that contrary to social media speculation, there was no stabbing during the event, a fact confirmed by both the festival and the Metropolitan Police.

Following the crowd surge, the festival ended prematurely on Saturday. The organizers emphasized that there were no stabbing incidents or fatalities at the event. They explained that earlier in the day, a fire involving a vendor led to a temporary halt in the festival while emergency services responded. Normal operations resumed after the situation was addressed.

Later in the day, a surge at the festival entrance resulted in multiple injuries among attendees, prompting the decision to close the event early for public safety. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, the organizers highlighted the festival’s long history of celebrating Ghanaian culture in a safe and positive environment, with this year’s event being held in collaboration with ShattaFest.

In response to the incident, the Metropolitan Police in Barnet confirmed the cancellation of the event due to overcrowding issues at the entrance, resulting in several non-life-threatening injuries. They urged the public to avoid the area and provided details of the assistance provided to those affected.

Overall, 23 individuals received assistance from emergency services or the event medical team, with nine being assessed by the London Ambulance Service. Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions. The event concluded early, with crowds dispersing without further incidents.
