Before venturing into acting, Kjell Nilsson had a successful career as an Olympic-level weightlifter. Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, he later moved to Australia in 1980 to coach Swedish athletes preparing for the Olympics.
It was in Australia where he crossed paths with actress Kate Ferguson, who would later become his wife and encouraged him to pursue acting. This decision led him to his iconic role as Lord Humungus in “Mad Max 2,” a character that left a lasting impression on fans of the franchise.
