At the premiere of her latest film, Margot Robbie dazzled in a stunning necklace worth £6.4 million, previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor and gifted by Richard Burton. The 35-year-old actress, known for her role as Catherine Earnshaw in the passionate adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, paired the exquisite pendant with a striking red and black Schiaparelli gown during the event in LA.

The heart-shaped Taj Mahal diamond, set in a Cartier necklace, was presented to the Cleopatra star by Burton on her 40th birthday in 1972, marking a significant moment in their relationship. The antique pendant, originating from 16th Century India and mounted in jade with a chain adorned with gold, rubies, and diamonds, features an inscription in Parsee that reads “love is everlasting.”

During the initial gifting, Burton expressed his desire to buy Taylor the Taj Mahal itself, but due to logistical challenges, he opted for the diamond pendant, which he humorously described as having so many carats that it was almost like a turnip. The necklace was later auctioned for $8.8 million in 2011 as part of the sale of Taylor’s jewelry collection following her passing that year.

Margot, who borrowed the iconic piece for the premiere, graced the red carpet alongside Jacob Elordi, her on-screen love interest portraying Heathcliff in the film. Among the celebrity attendees were Margot’s close friend Cara Delevingne and singer Charli XCX. Wuthering Heights is set to hit cinemas on February 13.
