A male nurse faces charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a senior resident at a nursing home. The incidents involving a 79-year-old patient occurred between November 2023 and February 2024 in New South Wales, Australia. The patient, who has cognitive impairment, was residing at a care facility during the reported assaults.
Following a complaint, detectives from Coffs/Clarence Police District initiated an investigation in June 2026 into the alleged sexual assault by an assistant nurse at an aged care home in Maclean. The 27-year-old suspect was apprehended on Monday, July 13 after a thorough police inquiry.
The man was charged with aggravated sexual assault against a victim with cognitive impairment, as well as aggravated charges for sexual touching and performing sexual acts on another person. He appeared in court on Monday and is scheduled to reappear before Grafton Local Court on Monday, September 7.
