David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1:14.194 in the second training session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening.

Following Malukas, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger came in third with a time of 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road circuit.

Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections, the first day of track sessions had to be canceled by the event organizers.

This year marks the inaugural hosting of the race in Markham, as it was relocated from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, its home since the event’s inception in 1986.

Earlier in the day, Palou had topped the time charts in the first practice session with a time of 1:14.9915.
