A 30-year-old man has been apprehended by authorities for allegedly stealing human remains from a hospital and cemeteries with the purpose of cooking and consuming them. The individual, employed as an orderly at the hospital in Budapest, came under police scrutiny after reports surfaced of him hoarding the body parts at his residence in an upscale district of the Hungarian capital.

Upon a search of his home, law enforcement officials purportedly discovered a range of human body parts including a face, facial skin, bones, a leg, a hand, skulls, and a heart preserved in a jar. The heart is currently undergoing analysis to determine its origin, whether human or animal. Additionally, a preserved human skin mask, several human skulls with moss and soil covering, and other bones stored in a suitcase were uncovered.

The suspect allegedly confessed to having an intense fixation on human body parts, admitting to acquiring remains from deserted cemeteries in Hungary and neighboring Slovakia. He purportedly utilized the body parts to prepare and consume meals. Authorities seized various items including his vehicle, electronic devices, and data cards for further investigation.

DNA testing is ongoing to ascertain the source of the remains, with police suggesting that the scope of the alleged offenses may broaden pending the identification of all body parts. Authorities noted the man’s keen interest in anatomy and pathology, mentioning that he has a history of dissecting animals.

In a separate incident, a convicted murderer, David Harker, who admitted to consuming parts of his victim, Julie Paterson, was recently denied parole for the ninth time. Harker, found guilty of killing Paterson in 1998, is currently serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. Reports revealed that he had shared details about frying and consuming part of Paterson’s thigh after her death.

Despite observations of improved behavior in custody, the Parole Board determined that releasing Harker would pose a risk to public safety, given the need for continued protection.
