A man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing incident involving a teenage girl in Lancashire. Lancashire Police responded to a call at 3.06 pm on Friday, June 12, on Wood Street, Brierfield, where they discovered a 17-year-old girl with a stab wound to the back of her neck. The victim was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, and fortunately, her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. She has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.
The authorities apprehended a 30-year-old man shortly after the incident on suspicion of attempted murder. The man, identified as Junaid Nawaz, aged 30, residing in Livingstone Walk, Brierfield, of British-Pakistani descent, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public setting. He is currently in custody and is set to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court the following morning.
In response to the incident, Lancashire Police has announced increased patrols in the vicinity and has urged individuals with any relevant information or footage to come forward. The incident has garnered attention on social media platforms, with residents expressing shock over the event in the small town, which has a population of around 8,000.
