A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an incident where a vehicle hit several pedestrians outside a bustling shopping center in West London. The individual, Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, reportedly fled the scene on Ealing Broadway at approximately 2:30 pm on Saturday, leaving five individuals injured, three of whom required hospitalization.
While Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial investigations, authorities have clarified that the event is not considered a terrorist act. The Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday evening that Mohamed, originally from Somalia and residing in Grange Park, Ealing, faces five counts of attempted murder, in addition to charges of dangerous driving, failure to stop, refusal to provide a breath specimen for analysis, and criminal damage.
Mohamed has been placed in custody and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained were deemed life-threatening or life-altering, and the two individuals who did not require hospitalization were treated at the scene.
The London Ambulance Service deployed various resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics in rapid response vehicles, a volunteer emergency responder team, and an incident response officer, along with London’s Air Ambulance. Three patients were treated on-site, with one individual being transported as a priority to a major trauma center by road, while the remaining two were taken to a nearby hospital.
