A man reported seeing the well-known Boeing 777 with 239 people on board engulfed in flames while in flight.

The mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 occurred on 8 March 2014 during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. This incident remains a significant unsolved case in aviation history.

In 2014, an oil rig worker from New Zealand lost his job after claiming to have witnessed MH370 on fire. Mike McKay, aged 57, observed what he believed to be an aircraft burning at a high altitude from the Songa Mercur oil rig location off the coast of Vietnam.

McKay sent an email to his superiors describing the event, stating he saw the plane burning at high altitude within a specific compass bearing. The leaked email contained details of his observation including the workplace name.

Despite facing skepticism and ridicule, McKay emphasized that his sighting could potentially aid in locating the missing passengers’ families. He raised questions regarding the flight’s deviation from its expected route and the delayed release of critical radar data.

Following McKay’s report, Vietnamese authorities dispatched aircraft to search for the plane. Recent search efforts, including one conducted by Ocean Infinity, have faced challenges. Malaysia’s Transport Minister Anthony Loke mentioned that current conditions were not conducive for search operations.

The search for MH370 resumed towards the end of the previous year. Ismail Hammad, Chief Engineer at Egyptair, proposed a theory aimed at resolving the mystery and locating the aircraft efficiently, highlighting discrepancies in photographs depicting the wreckage found in the ocean.
