A man who was taken into custody during the search for Nancy Guthries, who is currently missing, has decided to speak up. Luke Daley, a 37-year-old resident of Arizona, was apprehended following a SWAT operation at his residence.
Following his release, Daley has shared his side of the story while law enforcement officials and the FBI persist in their efforts to locate Savannah Guthrie’s mother. Both Daley and his 77-year-old mother were detained and held for several hours after law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at their home in Tuscon.
Reportedly living approximately two miles away from Nancy’s residence, where she was last sighted on January 31, Daley and his mother were eventually released without being charged after the lengthy detention.
Daley has had a conversation with Briana Whitney, the host of True Crime Arizona, regarding the incident. He expressed his belief that he became a target due to social media users suggesting a resemblance between him and the masked individual captured on the doorbell footage from Nancy’s house.
Reiterating to the host, Daley stated, “It’s not me. I don’t see the resemblance of it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case.” He further added, “Someone says something and then they just go off of it based on no evidence, no truth.” Like everyone else, he hopes for Nancy’s safe return.
When the detention occurred, his attorney confirmed the situation but emphasized that Daley and his mother had no involvement in the case. According to Chris Scileppi, “Daley and his mother were both detained by law enforcement while the search warrants were being executed. Neither Daley nor his mother were arrested in connection to this case or any other. Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping. Like the entire Tucson community, both Daley and his mother are hopeful that Nancy will be returned to her family unharmed.”
Authorities searching for the missing senior citizen are actively following leads with a newly implemented strategy. Despite extensive investigative efforts over weeks, no arrests have been made, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
Sources reveal that investigators on the case have initiated a crucial tactic to generate fresh leads. CNN Chief Law Enforcement Analyst John Miller stated, “This is nowhere near a cold case. They still have leads that are viable that they need to get to, including new leads that came in because of the strategy of holding back the big reward until the time it was needed to re-energise the lead bucket,” in reference to the $1 million reward announced by the Guthrie family.
Additionally, a $100,000 reward offered by the FBI has reportedly led to a surge in new leads related to the case.
