A man who traveled to Turkey for dental treatment is facing significant issues with his teeth, leading to potential repair costs of up to £40,000. Danny Tomlinson, aged 47, was dissatisfied with the appearance of his teeth, describing them as misaligned, discolored, and stained.
Originally quoted £3,500 for a complete set of crowns after undergoing tooth reshaping, Danny’s expenses escalated to £3,900 following the addition of a dental implant. However, upon his return home, complications arose.
Admitting to making an impulsive decision without conducting prior research, Danny, a tiler from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, expressed regret for not exploring the procedure further. Despite initially being content with the outcome of the treatment in Turkey in December 2020, he soon encountered issues with loose bottom teeth.
Over the course of six years, Danny made multiple return trips to the Turkish clinic as more dental problems emerged. Despite undergoing further cleanings, the clinic did not address the underlying issues promptly, eventually indicating the need for replacement of his lower teeth.
During his most recent visit to Turkey a month ago, Danny was informed of multiple loose teeth and provided with a quote of £12,500 for additional procedures. A UK dentist had previously warned him that all upper crowns and four lower teeth required replacement.
Danny now faces challenges with loose teeth, impacting his ability to eat comfortably. He expressed concerns about the possibility of teeth falling out and the associated costs of necessary treatments, including implants priced at £3,000 per tooth. Despite the financial burden, he is determined to address the dental issues without returning to Turkey for care.
Highlighting his cautionary tale, Danny advises against seeking dental treatment in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of thorough research and consulting local dentists before committing to extensive procedures. He regrets not opting for a brace instead of the tooth shaving process and cautions others against similar decisions due to escalating costs and potential risks.
