A man has been fined £400 for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl during a Harry Potter tour in London. Abdul Barkeeh Salihi, 24, touched the girl inappropriately at Leadenhall Market while she was visiting the filming location for Diagon Alley with her family.

Following the assault, the girl’s family confronted Salihi at Rocca restaurant in Leadenhall Market, resulting in him throwing a chair through a window. Prior to this incident, Salihi had also assaulted a 42-year-old woman by slapping her bottom on Lombard Street earlier that day.

Salihi, originally from Afghanistan, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and criminal damage. He was fined £400, with an additional £160 victim surcharge, and will be registered as a sex offender for the next five years.

Detective Constable Natalie Schofield from City of London Police described the assaults as distressing, emphasizing the courage of the victims for coming forward. The incidents took place in broad daylight, with one victim being a minor, which raised serious concerns.

Leadenhall Market, known for its historical significance and as a setting in the Harry Potter movies, witnessed Salihi’s first assault on a woman walking in the rain. The second assault occurred later that day when Salihi touched the girl during her sightseeing trip.

Salihi’s disruptive behavior led to a public confrontation at the restaurant, where he resisted leaving and eventually threw a chair through a window before being detained by bystanders. He admitted to the charges and was sentenced by Judge Ian Darling on July 13.
