A man has disappeared after encountering difficulties in the water at a Cornwall beach.
On Sunday, April 19, HM Coastguard received a distress call regarding the man at Polzeath. Response teams, including Polzeath and Bostcastle Coastguard Rescue Teams, an HM Coastguard Helicopter, and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock, were dispatched to Greenaway beach at 4:35 pm.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the man is still missing, and search operations are ongoing in the vicinity.
Another individual was also reported to have entered the water but managed to return safely to shore, as per Cornwall Live reports.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson stated, “A distress call was received around 4:35 pm on April 19 concerning a man in the water near Greenaway beach, Polzeath.”
“A second man who entered the water also made it back to land safely. Devon and Cornwall Police and the South Western Ambulance Service were also involved.”
A representative from Devon and Cornwall Police mentioned, “We were informed by the Coastguard on the afternoon of Sunday, April 19, regarding a man experiencing difficulties in the water near Greenaway Beach, Polzeath. The individual is still missing, and search efforts are ongoing in the area.”
“The second man who entered the water managed to return safely to shore.”
