A man, identified as Joshua Springer, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for committing severe sexual offenses against vulnerable individuals in an elderly care home. The sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court on February 20. Springer, previously residing in Stamford, Lincolnshire, pleaded guilty to nine counts of rape on December 2, 2025.
His crimes targeted three dementia patients at an elderly care facility in Stamford and another victim in North Yorkshire. The identities of the care home and the Yorkshire location have been withheld to protect the victims’ privacy. Additionally, Springer was charged with producing indecent images of children, a crime to which he also admitted guilt.
Authorities express concern that there may be more unidentified victims of Springer’s assaults, urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Jennifer Lovatt from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit emphasized the ongoing investigations and encouraged potential victims to contact the police. She noted that efforts to bring Springer to justice will continue, and individuals who believe they have been affected should not hesitate to reach out.
DCI Lovatt called on anyone who may have been victimized by Springer, also known as Joshua Kearney, to report their experiences. She provided contact details for Lincolnshire Police at 101, referencing Incident 272 of November 28. Alternatively, individuals wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
This news underscores the importance of seeking justice for victims of such crimes and the continued efforts of law enforcement to ensure perpetrators are held accountable.
