A man passed away from a heart attack as he was dragging the lifeless body of his girlfriend, whom he is suspected of murdering, through a wooded area, as indicated by an autopsy report. The deceased, Jessica Folds, a mother of three from Lanett, Alabama, and the suspect, Daniel Robbins, 44, from Macon, Georgia, were discovered on June 10 in a wooded section close to the rural community where Folds grew up.
Law enforcement officers found the body of the 47-year-old woman with her hands raised above her head, just a short distance from her residence, according to Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson. An autopsy has confirmed that she was strangled to death.
Robbins’ body was found beside hers, positioned in a fetal posture. Police noticed a distinct trail indicating that the bodies had been dragged at the scene.
While the exact duration of their relationship remains undisclosed by the authorities, public records show that the 47-year-old mother and grandmother lost her spouse of five years in February of the previous year. Although the location of her alleged murder has not been determined, law enforcement officials believe Robbins murdered Folds during a domestic violence incident the night before. District Attorney Mike Segrest mentioned that authorities suspect he was attempting to dispose of her body when he suffered a fatal heart attack. “He died of a heart attack in the process,” Segrest stated. “Their bodies were discovered in close proximity.” Police responded to the wooded area around noon on June 10 after a passerby noticed an abandoned vehicle on a dirt road that was still running. The driver’s side door was open, and the tailgate was lowered, the DA added. Officers followed drag marks in the dirt from there.
The drag marks began at the ground near the open tailgate and truck bed and concluded in the undergrowth where the two bodies were discovered lying in the dirt. The passerby who found the car and deceased couple initially mistook their remains for mannequins, as relayed by the county sheriff to a local TV news outlet. Folds is survived by three adult sons and two grandchildren. Her obituary states: “Jessica had a positive impact on many lives in the Auburn-Opelika area. Her loving nature, deep affection for everyone, and radiant smile illuminated the world.”
Robbins was a father to a daughter. His obituary has been removed from the funeral home’s website that has taken charge of his burial arrangements. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the alleged homicide, which is still being investigated.
