Police are seeking information following an incident where an individual wearing a mask was caught on camera vandalizing a family-owned restaurant by smashing five windows with a hammer and splashing paint on the building. The attack took place at Antep Bar and Grill in Doncaster, Yorkshire, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The restaurant is run by Dektas and Satma Polat, a married couple from Turkey who have been living in the UK for over three decades and have two adult children. They were shocked to discover the damage and spent hours cleaning up the aftermath.
Satma expressed her love for England and Doncaster, emphasizing the friendly atmosphere of their establishment and expressing confusion over the motive behind the attack. The cost of repairing the windows is estimated at around £1,700, with the entire front of the restaurant affected.
In response to the incident, the restaurant announced on social media that they would be temporarily closed for repairs to ensure the safety of their premises. They also called for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed the incident, stating that they are investigating the case of criminal damage and urging anyone with relevant information to contact them. The incident occurred on Nether Hall Road, Doncaster, with the perpetrator reportedly fleeing the scene after smashing the windows.
