The identity of the man who was fatally stabbed in a skate park has been released by the authorities, while a teenage boy remains in critical condition in the hospital.

A murder inquiry was initiated by the police following the death of a 20-year-old male in the Briar Hill vicinity of Northampton.

The victim has been identified as Mason Miller, who was lethally stabbed at the Ringway skate park. Another victim, aged 17, sustained severe injuries and is currently under medical care in the hospital.

Since the incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Wednesday, numerous detectives, officers, and police personnel have been actively involved in investigations. Extensive house-to-house inquiries have been conducted, and there is heightened police presence in the area, with visible patrols aimed at reassuring residents and assisting the local community.

Det Insp Matt Bly, the Senior Investigating Officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), stated that the investigation is rapidly progressing, with detectives pursuing multiple leads.

He remarked, “The focus remains on the murder investigation, with our primary thoughts directed towards Mason’s family during this challenging period. The family is understandably coping with the tragic events of Wednesday and has requested privacy at this time.

“We are diligently piecing together the sequence of events and identifying those accountable. Public cooperation is vital in this process, and I urge anyone with relevant information, including CCTV footage or mobile recordings, to promptly contact the authorities.”

As part of the broader inquiry, two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old were brought before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. They faced charges of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. All three were released on conditional bail and placed in the care of the local authorities.

Police have urged witnesses or individuals with information to reach out to Northamptonshire Police on 101 or provide details anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555111. Information can also be submitted online at the relevant police portals. Those providing information should reference incident number 26000098294.
