A man who had gone missing while hiking in the Scottish Highlands has been found deceased. The body was recovered in the An Stac area of the Ben Lawers mountain range around 1.25pm on Sunday, leading to the identification of 36-year-old Adam Chalmers. His family has been informed of the tragic discovery.
Adam Chalmers was last in contact at 12.40pm on Saturday while in the Ben Lawers mountain range. His plan was to climb the Meall Greigh, Meall Garbh, and An Stuc munros, with one peak remaining to conquer before his disappearance.
Authorities have not identified any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, and a formal report will be submitted for review. The family of Mr. Chalmers expressed gratitude to Police Scotland, Tayside Mountain Rescue, RAF Mountain Rescue, and all other agencies involved in the extensive search efforts.
During the search operations, Police had described Adam as a white male, 5ft 11in tall, of stocky build, bald with a medium-length brown beard. He was last seen wearing a green and blue triangle-patterned fleece, a grey and black waterproof jacket, green walking trousers, a blue cap, and brown boots, carrying a rucksack with orange elastic ties.
Meanwhile, a separate search continues for another missing individual, Timothy Rosser, a 60-year-old from the United States, who was last known to be hillwalking in Glencoe. Timothy has not been seen since he departed from his hotel in Edinburgh in a black MG hire car (LE75 FNO) on Tuesday morning. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information about Timothy’s whereabouts to come forward promptly.
Sergeant Lewis Macleod emphasized the importance of assistance from the public, especially from individuals who may have been hillwalking in the area on the specified date and observed anything that could aid in the search efforts for Timothy Rosser.
