Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has unveiled his preferred color in a promotional campaign for the inaugural Ultimate Championship. The two-time Olympic gold medalist launched “Gold,” in collaboration with World Athletics, as the official anthem for the upcoming tournament, featuring a substantial prize pool of $10 million US.

Scheduled to take place in Budapest from September 11-13, the Ultimate Championship will showcase elite athletes, including Olympic, world, and Diamond League champions, across three evening sessions. Winners of individual events will be awarded $150,000 in prize money.

Duplantis, 26, who holds the world record, is not only a talented athlete but also has a passion for music. In 2025, he released his debut single, “Bop,” and aspires to win a Grammy in the future. The anthem “Gold” was co-written by Duplantis with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, and produced by Chase, as confirmed by World Athletics.

Expressing his thoughts on the song, Duplantis stated, “I wrote the song around representing something that’s a lot bigger than yourself. I think that’s what we all do when we’re on the track.” He emphasized the unifying power of music and sports in bringing people together.

The music video accompanying “Gold” was shot in Budapest, incorporating archival footage of Duplantis during his early athletic years. Duplantis shared that music serves as a form of therapy for him, offering a break from the intensity of sports.

During the Ultimate Championship, “Gold” will be integrated into the event’s broadcast and live experience to engage fans worldwide. Duplantis is set to perform the anthem live at the event’s conclusion, enhancing the overall spectacle.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised Duplantis for creating the Ultimate Anthem, highlighting the championship’s aim to showcase athletes’ talents and interests beyond their athletic abilities. The Ultimate Championship is set to become a biennial event, further elevating the global athletics stage.
