“Mother’s Dubai Dental Nightmare Reveals Hidden Risks”

Published on

A mother of three is cautioning individuals against seeking dental treatment in Dubai following a distressing ordeal she faced during veneer placement. Jade Morgan, 36, shared her harrowing experience of a flawed procedure that resulted in a broken tooth and bleeding gums. She acknowledges being influenced by social media ads when deciding to undergo the treatment, which cost her £2,800 excluding travel and accommodation expenses. Regretting her decision, Jade opted for corrective treatment back in Liverpool to replace the porcelain veneers she received in Dubai.

Recalling her ordeal, Jade disclosed to the Liverpool Echo that she never saw the intended dentist initially. Instead, an assistant conducted the preparatory work and impressions, with the dentist only meeting her on the final day for the veneer fitting. Despite the cementing of the veneers in under an hour, Jade sensed immediately that her bite felt incorrect but was advised to let it settle.

Soon after returning home, one of Jade’s teeth broke, prompting her to realize the additional costs and inconvenience of seeking further treatment in Dubai. She highlighted experiencing bleeding gums and the absence of temporary veneers, a standard provision in the UK for patients to preview and adjust the proposed size and shape.

Jade is now advising caution against enticing offers and stresses the importance of post-treatment care. Emphasizing the blind trust placed during the final appointment, she warns about the lack of opportunity to assess the look and feel of the veneers beforehand. Seeking assistance from Liverpool’s Dental Excellence, Jade pursued a plan to replace all Dubai-fitted veneers, emphasizing the structured process of cosmetic dental work in the UK for optimal results.

The dentist from Liverpool reiterated the importance of temporary restorations, bite assessment, and gradual adjustments in the UK’s dental procedures to avoid long-term issues. Highlighting the hidden costs and risks associated with seeking treatment abroad, the dentist warned about potential financial and natural teeth damage consequences.

Citing data from the British Dental Association and the British Endodontic Society, 70% of dentists have observed an uptick in patients returning from overseas with post-treatment complications, with nearly half leading to irreversible teeth damage. NHS England has also disclosed significant annual expenditures in addressing complications arising from dental tourism.
