Claudia Winkleman is not the sole standout from Strictly Come Dancing to achieve success with The Traitors. Another familiar face from Strictly, judge Motsi Mabuse, triumphed in the German version of the show called Die Verräter.
The popular game show has multiple adaptations worldwide, including the US, the Netherlands where it originated, and Germany. While the UK only recently launched a celebrity edition of The Traitors, various other versions have incorporated celebrities in their formats in the past.
Motsi participated in the third season of the German version of The Traitors last year. Living in Bavaria with her husband Evgenij Voznyuk and daughter when not on the set of Strictly, Motsi was one of the initial traitors on the show.
The initial lineup featured Motsi along with actresses Charlotte Wurdig and Mirja du Mont, and TV presenter Wayne Carpendale. Wayne was eliminated in the fourth episode, while the three women persisted and eventually emerged as winners.
Although the show is not accessible in the UK, fans of Strictly are now learning about Motsi’s victory. Social media buzzed with comments like, “Just found out that Motsi Mabuse won the German version of The Traitors last year. Why was this never mentioned before?”
In a similar vein, Rachel Duffy mirrored Motsi’s success by becoming the first female traitor to win in this year’s UK edition of The Traitors. Rachel, alongside Stephen Libby, strategically navigated their way to the final, securing a jackpot of £95,750.
After her win, Rachel expressed, “Being the first female Traitor to reach the final and win is an incredible achievement. It’s an amazing feeling.”
