Russian opposition MP Vyacheslav Markhayev has urged Vladimir Putin to halt the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, warning of severe consequences if the war continues. Markhayev expressed concerns about Russia facing potential social unrest and chaos if the current situation persists. He criticized Putin’s administration for escalating tensions and called for a strategic plan to end the military operations in the region.
The MP highlighted the tragic death of Alisher Svirin, the first Russian soldier born in 2008, as a stark reminder of the human cost of the conflict. Markhayev compared Putin’s actions to those of a foreign invader, accusing the government of prioritizing personal gains over the well-being of the population.
Addressing economic disparities, Markhayev criticized the government for neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens while enriching a small elite class. He emphasized the growing wealth disparity in Russia, with a record number of billionaires accumulating vast fortunes while many struggle to afford basic necessities.
Markhayev also raised concerns about the country’s geopolitical position and warned of potential further destabilization if the conflict in Ukraine persists. He called on the ruling authorities to prioritize the interests of the people and take concrete actions to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
