A man described as “very popular” was discovered dead at a Bronze Age stone circle in the Peak District during a summer solstice gathering. The man, identified locally as Isaac Clare-Watts, a qualified joiner from Arnold, Nottinghamshire, was found at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees, Derbyshire, on June 22. Authorities responded to the scene following reports of the body just before 1.40pm.

A 41-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. Isaac Clare-Watts had been employed at Nottingham building firm Frank Goulding Ltd, where he was regarded as a valued team member.

The company expressed their sorrow, stating that Isaac had joined them in 2016, completed his joinery apprenticeship, and had become a highly skilled joiner. Last year, he decided to take a break to pursue his passion for Muay Thai in Thailand.

Police have urged individuals who were in the area between June 19 and 23, particularly during the summer solstice event, to come forward with any information or footage they may have. Detective Inspector Tony Owen emphasized the urgency of gathering details to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragic death and provide justice for the victim’s family.
