Naomi Campbell appeared in court regarding her charity disqualification, following a Charity Commission report that uncovered financial mismanagement at her organization, Fashion for Relief. The investigation revealed that the charity failed to allocate raised funds appropriately, instead diverting money towards personal expenses like cigarettes, security services for Campbell, and unauthorized payments to other trustees. Notably, charity funds were also used for luxury accommodations and spa treatments.

In response to the findings, Campbell announced her intention to appeal, criticizing the report as “deeply flawed.” The supermodel, dressed in a stylish black coat dress, was seen entering the London tribunal for the legal proceedings.

Fashion for Relief, established by Campbell in 2005 to support disaster relief efforts globally, organized fashion shows to aid various causes, including Hurricane Katrina, the Syrian refugee crisis, and earthquakes in Haiti and Japan. However, the Charity Commission’s inquiry in 2021 highlighted significant financial mismanagement within the foundation, leading to its dissolution and removal from the charities register.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a small fraction of the charity’s expenses went towards charitable grants, while funds were improperly handled outside of a dedicated bank account. The inquiry also exposed excessive spending on fundraising, including a costly hotel stay for Campbell. She, along with two other trustees, was disqualified from their roles due to the financial irregularities.

Campbell refuted the accusations, asserting that she was not directly involved in the charity’s day-to-day operations and did not benefit personally from her philanthropic work. She emphasized her commitment to charitable initiatives and vowed to address the issues raised in the report diligently. Despite the setback, she expressed gratitude for the support received and reaffirmed her dedication to making a positive impact through her charitable endeavors.
