Starting this October, VAT reductions on electricity bills will benefit numerous households, as announced by the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, aiming to boost finances and restore optimism. The government estimates that the VAT cut will save an average household approximately £45, based on the current Ofgem price cap, with the actual savings varying based on energy usage.
