“New Travel Warnings Issued for Brits Amid Iran-US-Israel Tensions”

Published on

Recently updated travel advice for British citizens heading to ten countries globally has been altered following heightened tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel. The revised warnings now encompass various countries, including Thailand, as reported by Birmingham Live.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has adjusted travel guidance for multiple Middle Eastern nations due to ongoing regional tensions. The changes, effective overnight before March 4, have impacted countries such as Thailand, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine, Israel, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

The FCDO has provided “updated information about regional escalation and departures” from the mentioned countries. The warnings come amidst continued hostilities between the US, Iran, and their respective allies in the Gulf region.

These developments follow the recent passing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Below is the detailed summary of the updated travel guidance:

Kuwait

For those considering leaving Kuwait, specific land border crossings into Saudi Arabia were open as of March 3.

The FCDO advised: “If opting for car travel, ensure the vehicle is owned and registered in your name. For those intending to use commercial means to depart, stay updated with the latest information from your airline or tour operator, as well as follow local authorities’ instructions and check border crossing statuses before your journey.

“It’s essential to have emergency supplies and necessary medication accessible. Traveling within or out of Kuwait carries inherent risks. Continuously review your departure plans and ensure your travel documents, including any required visas for onward travel, are up to date.”

Bahrain

The FCDO stated: “If you feel it’s safe to do so and plan to travel by road, refer to our Travel Advice for Saudi Arabia regarding entry requirements and ensure you have the necessary documentation to avoid entry issues.

“While in the country, follow local authorities’ directives. If advised to seek shelter, remain indoors or locate the nearest safe building or designated shelter. Additional protection may be found in an interior stairwell or a room with minimal external walls or windows.”

Israel

According to the FCDO, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism is offering shuttle services from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to the Taba border in Egypt. British tourists with a B2 tourist visa are eligible for this service.
