Nigel Farage’s travel expenses, funded by donors, have exceeded £151,000 to show support for Donald Trump since he became a Member of Parliament. Recently, Farage was present at an event honoring US Military Veterans at Trump’s Mar A Lago resort. This came just before Trump made disparaging remarks about British troops who served in Afghanistan.
During his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Farage acted as an advisor to Hossein Ghandehari, an Iranian-born businessman. Despite positioning himself as a voice for “ordinary people,” Farage spent a significant amount of his initial year as an MP traveling back and forth across the Atlantic, with affluent supporters covering the costs.
Notably, in November, businessman Bassim Haidar sponsored flights totaling £54,921 for Farage and two associates to attend a veterans’ gathering at Mar-a-Lago. Additionally, GB News funded nearly £8,000 for Farage’s attendance at the pro-Trump CPAC conference in Washington DC in February 2025.
Farage’s Commons Register of Interests entries are dominated by trips related to Trump. For instance, crypto investor Christopher Harborne, a major donor to Reform, financed travel and accommodation expenses of £27,616 for Trump’s inauguration and £32,836 for Farage to campaign for Trump’s re-election.
One contentious flight was funded by Harborne, raising concerns that it could be viewed as a contribution to the Trump campaign. Other entries in the register include trips to meet Elon Musk and attend an event by the pro-Trump American group National Conservatism in Belgium, all sponsored by various donors.
Critics have condemned Farage’s actions, with a Green Party spokesperson labeling him a “fraud” for associating with the American far right while claiming to be a patriot, especially in light of Trump’s disrespectful comments towards fallen British troops.
