“Nigerian President & First Lady Honored in Royal UK Visit”

Published on

The UK witnessed a grand display of royal protocol as the King and Queen hosted the President and First Lady of Nigeria for the first state visit of 2026. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu were greeted at Windsor by Prince William and Princess Kate before proceeding to Windsor Castle for a meeting with Charles and Camilla.

During the inspection of the guards, William and Kate stood alongside the royal couple. Queen Camilla shared a touching moment with the Princess of Wales, showcasing their mutual affection through a warm gesture.

As they exchanged greetings at Windsor Castle, Kate and Camilla embraced and exchanged words, with a lip reader interpreting their conversation as a polite exchange of compliments.

Camilla looked elegant in a pink ensemble by Fiona Clare and Philip Treacy, adorned with Queen Elizabeth II’s Cartier flower clip brooches. The crowds in Windsor admired the royal welcome.

In a departure from tradition, William and Kate chose not to post a pre-banquet portrait on Instagram as they had done in previous years. Instead, they shared a video of the evening’s highlights on their official account.

The delayed portrait was eventually posted, revealing Kate in the Lover’s Knot Tiara and a stunning emerald gown by designer Andrew Gn, paying tribute to Nigeria with the color choice.

President Tinubu’s visit marked a rare occasion of a Muslim leader’s state visit during Ramadan, a month of fasting for Muslims. Due to this, the traditional lunch with the King did not take place, and the President is believed to have privately broken his fast before joining the Royal Family for the banquet at St George’s Hall.

Royal enthusiasts eagerly awaited the portrait unveiling, expressing admiration for the couple’s grace and elegance in the comments.
