An opposition leader against Hamas shared how he narrowly escaped from Gaza and now resides safely in Italy. Moumen al-Natour recounted his harrowing experience evading Hamas capture in Gaza and expressed gratitude for being alive in Italy.

Despite advocating for Gazans’ rights, Moumen faced threats, including his younger brother’s life being endangered by Hamas soldiers seeking his whereabouts.

Supported by an Italian lawyer, Moumen navigated perilous frontlines between Hamas and Israeli forces to reach safety in Italy with his family. Fearful of Hamas’s influence, Moumen preferred to keep his current location undisclosed, emphasizing the constant peril he faced under Hamas rule in Gaza.

Reflecting on his past ordeals, Moumen described the oppressive environment under Hamas control, where he was repeatedly detained and harassed for his activism against corruption and repression. He emphasized the need for a regime change in Gaza, advocating for technocratic governance prioritizing economy, education, and healthcare over militarization.
