A tragic incident unfolded in North London as a three-month-old baby boy passed away from severe injuries, leading to his parents facing murder charges. Emergency responders were summoned to the residence of Dounia Chetaouat, 32, and Abdelkader Essid, 44, in Finchley following reports of their unresponsive son on January 30. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene and subsequent hospital care, the infant could not be saved.

Both parents have been accused of the murder of their infant, referred to as Baby A, and are currently in police custody awaiting further legal proceedings. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

The couple is set to make a court appearance at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today. Authorities from the Metropolitan Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.

In a statement, the Met Police disclosed that the parents were charged following the distressing incident at their North Finchley residence. The initial emergency call on January 30 revealed the critical condition of Baby A, prompting swift action from emergency services. Subsequently, the parents were apprehended on suspicion of causing severe harm through assault.

Tragically, Baby A succumbed to his injuries on February 17 despite medical intervention. The parents, identified as Dounia Chetaouat and Abdelkader Essid, were charged with murder and causing or permitting harm to a child on February 18. Their court appearance is scheduled to take place on February 23 at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
