At the Cannes Film Festival, the 27-year-old daughter of Paul Walker, a cast member of the Fast and Furious movies, joined the celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The cast gathered for a midnight screening of the first film, “The Fast and The Furious,” released in 2001.
Vin Diesel, honoring his goddaughter Meadow Walker, daughter of the late Paul Walker, expressed gratitude for her presence, acknowledging the support of fans that led to the continuation of the franchise. He emotionally highlighted the significance of the audience’s loyalty and their role in the upcoming film, “Fast Forever.”
Diesel emphasized the sense of family within the franchise before the screening, stating that love was the core theme of the movie. Following the screening, Meadow, with Diesel’s assistance, addressed the audience, praising the cast as a source of strength. Diesel reassured Meadow that her father would be proud, leading to a touching moment between them.
Notable franchise members like Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez also attended the event in France. Paul Walker passed away in 2013 at the age of 40 due to a car accident in Santa Clarita. Meadow, his only daughter, lived primarily with her mother in Hawaii before moving to California to live with her father.
The script of the films was modified posthumously to give Paul’s character, Brian O’Conner, a fitting farewell. A poignant scene featuring the song “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was included as a tribute. Meadow, who was 14 at the time of her father’s passing, shared a special bond with Paul and continues to cherish his memory.
