Peter Andre has shared how he and his wife, Emily, are focusing on maintaining the excitement in their marriage. The 52-year-old singer, known for hits like “Rock U Right,” has been married to GP Emily for ten years. Together, they have three children: Millie, aged 12, Theo, aged nine, and 22-month-old Belle.
The former “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” contestant, who has two older children, Junior and Princess, from his previous marriage to Katie Price, was inspired by Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse’s advice on prioritizing date nights in marriage. Peter and Emily have taken this to heart and are making efforts to incorporate regular date nights into their busy family life.
In his column for new! magazine, Peter revealed, “Emily and I realized the importance of focusing on our marriage, especially after reading about Oti Mabuse’s approach. We are juggling multiple responsibilities with our children, but we understand the significance of spending quality time together. We ensure the younger kids are in bed early on designated nights for us to have time alone, scheduling a date day or night once a month.”
Peter, who rose to fame with the 1990s hit “Mysterious Girl,” also reflected on how his parenting style has evolved, thanks to Emily’s guidance. He shared, “Emily recently praised me as a ‘girl dad’ because I’ve learned to have open and honest conversations with our daughters. I’ve shifted from the more traditional, reserved approach to parenting I grew up with to being more understanding and approachable. Now, our daughters feel comfortable discussing anything with me.”
Meanwhile, Emily discussed the challenges of parenting teenagers after becoming a stepmother to Peter’s older children. She emphasized the importance of striking a balance between being a friend and a parent to teenagers, setting boundaries while fostering open communication.
