Police have apprehended a suspect following an alleged rape of a woman in her twenties at Brighton Beach last night. The individual in custody is a 28-year-old man linked to the assault.
A designated area has been cordoned off, and law enforcement is present on the beachfront conducting inquiries. The section between the 360 Tower and volleyball courts has been sealed off to the public, with officers visible along the shoreline.
The victim is currently being supported by specialized officers, while the 28-year-old suspect remains detained. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
According to Sussex Police, an investigation is ongoing into the reported rape of a woman in her twenties on Brighton Beach, believed to have occurred overnight from Tuesday, August 4, to Wednesday, August 5.
The statement from Sussex Police reads: “The victim is receiving assistance from trained officers. A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is in custody. Individuals with information are encouraged to reach out to the police either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 228 of 05/08.”
